Safety & Compliance

Electrical Safety Certificates

Certificate of Compliance

After any electrical work, you should receive a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) or equivalent. This confirms:

  • Work was done by a licensed electrician
  • Work complies with Australian Standards
  • Work has been tested

State Requirements

  • NSW: Certificate of Compliance Electrical Work (CCEW)
  • VIC: Certificate of Electrical Safety (CES)
  • QLD: Electrical Safety Certificate
  • WA: Notice of Completion

Why It Matters

  • Proof work was done legally
  • Insurance requirements
  • Selling documentation
  • Warranty claims

What If You Don't Have One

If you had work done without receiving a certificate:

  • Contact the electrician and request one
  • If unavailable, have another electrician inspect and certify
  • Report unlicensed work to your state authority
