Water Supply Pipes

Copper

  • Traditional, proven reliability
  • Long lifespan (50+ years)
  • Requires soldering
  • More expensive

PEX (Cross-linked Polyethylene)

  • Flexible, easy to install
  • Push-fit or crimp connections
  • Good for retrofits
  • Can't be used outside (UV sensitive)

Polybutylene (PB)

  • Similar to PEX
  • Common in hot water
  • Flexible installation

Drainage Pipes

PVC

  • Standard for drainage
  • DWV (drain, waste, vent) rated
  • Solvent weld connections
  • Long lasting

Cast Iron

  • Traditional in older homes
  • Quiet (less water noise)
  • Heavy, expensive
  • Still used in high-rises

Gas Pipes

  • Copper: Traditional gas lines
  • PE (Polyethylene): Underground gas
  • Pex-Al-Pex: Modern alternative

  • Water supply: 15-20mm typical
  • Basin waste: 40mm
  • Shower/bath: 50mm
  • Toilet: 100mm
